Administering Fluids Sub-Q
Hi all! Many sugarcat caregivers will need to administer sub-Q fluids to their kitty at some point. Fluids are used in the treatment of CRF (chronic renal failure) and are used in a handful of other instances. Our friend[FrontPage Image Map Component] Mary gives her kitty Darla fluids at home so we grabbed a little video of the process to take some of the "mystery" and fear out of the process :)
Frankly, it didn't look as scary as I thought it would! I think even *I* could do this at some point (the girl that sucks at insulin injections LOL).
This film is about 7 minutes long (it is the best
quality we could keep while
maintaining a reasonable file size; also note the sloppy editing to keep the
time down LOL). It shows how Mary administers Darla's fluids.
This film is just to show you the process and take away some of your anxiety, it is not intended to be a full-blown "how to" or to replace the counsel of your vet in any way.
Fluids - the Film (lol) is in .mp4 format. Once you download it you should be able to watch it in the latest versions of QuickTime, RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.
