Our intent is to have specific topic chats, guest speaker chats, and just general sugarcat "shout-out" chats! Let us know if you have a guest speaker to suggest or a topic idea.  

The chat should be accessible to PC and Mac users alike.  The room is Java-based and that's the best way to access it.  However, if you're running an older browser the room will default to .html.  Might not be as pretty but it should work :)  

Rules of chat:

• You must announce yourself when you join the room, your name and kitty name.  This is especially important if your user name wouldn't be recognized by most folks.  If we don't know who you are, a moderator will ask you privately.  If you don't respond - you get kicked out - sorry!  We don't have time or tolerance for trolls :)
• Please see this thread at Gorb's message board for additional "code of conduct" guidelines for Grief Support Chat.
• DO NOT talk over other people and other conversations.  This is a chat room and things go fast and furious, however we're all adults and very capable of behaving like polite netizens towards each other.
• Off-topic discussion must be kept to private messaging (except on free-for-all nights).  
• No vet bashing - ever!
• The chat room records transcripts for Monday chats - don't say anything you don't want the world to read.  If you question whether a statement will be controversial, take it to private messaging.  WE WILL NO LONGER BE EDITING CHAT TRANSCRIPTS.  Gorb and I have transcripts of every word said in chat, however we only post the on-topic nights.  So don't say anything bad about us and think we won't find out LOL!
• You announce yourself when you come in so please say "goodbye" when you leave.  We try to encourage a friendly atmosphere and "hi's" and "bye's" go a long way :)
• When a moderator asks for attention, silence, or anything else - please comply.  Failure to do so will result in temporary suspension of your chat privileges.

Tech support updates:

• If you're on a Mac you can access the room with IE, Safari is not supported at this time.
• For folks with user name issues, your user name cannot contain symbols such as "&", e.g. instead of "Lisa & Gorb", we're "Lisa and Gorb".  If you're told your user name isn't available, its because its already registered, e.g. "Anne" or "Lisa" - try to include your cat's name to differentiate and get a user name nobody else has :)
• Some folks have been unable to access the room at all and we've figured out that most of those folks are using Windows XP or another recent MS OS.  Microsoft no longer includes Java within Internet Explorer - so you'll have to install Java (free and easy download) to access the room.  Follow this link to download Java Virtual Machine so you can access the chat room as well as tons of other Java content you'll find on the web.
• For folks preferring to access the room with .html, follow this link for frames or this one for no frames
